EDLD_5305: The Need to Learn…

The Need to Learn Drives How I learn

“Education is what people do to you and learning is what you do to yourself… need to learn is how to learn.” (Joi Ho)

The one constant that permeates the oil and gas industry is change. This is driven by an increase usage of innovative technology. The end-product remains the same or in some respects may be diminished in quantity following a market price correlation, high or low. Remaining profitable demands timely, efficient, and decreased time-to-market uncompromised preparation of personnel, demonstrating mastery of more hard and soft skillsets be uploaded into the industry.

I attend specific chosen training conferences or select vendors to visit our offices to deliver instructions educating us on the usage of their products. This is what they do for and to me. Prior to attending or hosting any such event, I would have done a precursory review/study of what desirable feature the product addresses that complements and contributes to my Creating a Significant Learning Environment (CSLE).

During my education on a product by the product’s subject matter expert, I’m thought processing, identifying, and validating key integration areas for this tool’s “plug and play” student engagement in my organizations training environment.  For example, where does augmented reality, virtual reality, and hands-on simulators work best, enabling increased deployment opportunities for students to experience authentic learning.
